Smartproxy is Decodo, and the reviews are under the old name

If you searched for Smartproxy and landed on a company called Decodo, nothing has
gone wrong. We followed smartproxy.com on 15 August 2026 and it returns a single
301 redirect to decodo.com. Same company, new name. What follows is what
carries over and what does not.
What the redirect tells you
A rename and a shutdown look different at the HTTP layer, and this one is unambiguous:
GET https://smartproxy.com/
HTTP/2 301
location: https://decodo.com/
HTTP/2 200
One hop, straight to the new brand's homepage, no parking page and no notice of sale. A domain that had been dropped or sold usually lands somewhere else entirely, which is the failure mode we watch for across the whole roster.
Decodo describes the change in its own words on that homepage:
Smartproxy is now Decodo. Our evolution from proxy infrastructure to a complete data access and automation platform called for a new name. The same trusted team and solutions you've relied on since 2018 are now part of Decodo, delivering even better tools for your web data projects.
Its about page repeats the continuity claim: "Since 2018, Decodo (formerly known as Smartproxy) has been the go-to proxy and scraping solutions provider."
Decodo does not date the change anywhere we could find, and we are not going to put a date on it that its own site does not. If you see a specific rebrand date quoted elsewhere, ask where it came from.
The part that actually costs you something
The company carries over. The search results do not.
Almost every review, comparison and forum thread about this provider was written
under the old name, and none of it has been redone. Decodo links to that corpus
from its own pages: a G2 listing filed at decodo-formerly-smartproxy, plus
third-party reviews still titled for Smartproxy. So the material you find is
about the same network under a name the vendor no longer uses.
That is fine for anything durable and useless for anything dated. Our rule for reading them:
- Network quality, support, product lines. Probably still apply, since the vendor states the team and solutions are unchanged.
- Prices, plan names, minimums. These do not apply, and not because of the rename. They do not apply because pricing pages in this market move weekly, and a review written a year ago was stale before the name changed.
What Decodo sold in August 2026
We read 24 plans across Decodo's three pricing pages on 14 August 2026. The ladders, as the vendor prints them:
| Line | Entry | Top of the ladder |
|---|---|---|
| Datacenter | 10 GB at $0.60/GB (read 14 Aug 2026) | 10,000 GB at $0.38/GB |
| ISP, static residential | 3 addresses at $3.33/IP | 50 addresses at $2.70/IP |
The ISP line is priced per address with a stated monthly total beside each rung, which is worth knowing because it is the shape most likely to be misread. Decodo prints both numbers:
3 IPs $3.33 /IP Total: $9.99 + VAT billed monthly 10 IPs $2.9 /IP Total: $29 + VAT billed monthly
Note the VAT line. The totals on that page are pre-tax, and our cost calculator works in the same pre-tax figures the vendor publishes.
We got this vendor wrong, which is the reason to check the date
A rename usually arrives with restructured pricing pages, and restructured pages are how a stale figure survives without anybody noticing.
Until 14 August this site showed Decodo, Static 10, $42/mo. Decodo sells 10
static addresses for $29. We were 45% high, live, on exactly the kind of number
this site exists to get right. The row was a hand-entered value held over from
before we could read that ladder, and it stayed because falling back to a
hand-verified figure feels conservative right up until the vendor changes and the
figure stops being true.
It was fixed by teaching our reader Decodo's real ISP ladder rather than by typing a better number in. All 24 plans on the Decodo page now carry a read date of 14 August 2026, and the invented row is gone.
We mention it because it is the same trap this whole post is about. A rebrand does not change the network. It changes every page that quotes a price, and the quotes do not update themselves. How we check covers what we do about that on our side.

Questions
Is Smartproxy the same company as Decodo?
Yes. Decodo's own homepage says Smartproxy is now Decodo and describes it as the same team since 2018. We followed smartproxy.com on 15 August 2026 and it returns a single 301 redirect to decodo.com, which is what a completed rename looks like rather than a sale.
When did Smartproxy become Decodo?
Decodo does not put a date on it. Its about page says only that it has operated since 2018 under the former name. We are not going to publish a date its own site does not state, so treat any specific date you see elsewhere as unsourced.
Does my Smartproxy account still work?
That is a question for Decodo support rather than for us, and we have not tested a login. What we can confirm is that the domain redirects and the product lines carry the same names, so nothing on the public site suggests a migration.
Are Smartproxy reviews still relevant to Decodo?
Partly. The network and team are described as the same, so older reviews of quality may hold. Prices are the part that will not: we read 24 Decodo plans on 14 August 2026 and pricing pages in this market move weekly.
What does Decodo cost now?
Its datacenter ladder runs from $0.60/GB at 10 GB to $0.38/GB at 10,000 GB, and its ISP ladder from $3.33/IP for 3 addresses to $2.70/IP for 50. Both read 14 August 2026 from Decodo's own pricing pages.
Why do search results still say Smartproxy?
Because the review corpus was written under that name and has not been redone. Decodo links to some of it from its own site, including a G2 page filed as decodo-formerly-smartproxy and third-party reviews still titled Smartproxy.
