The share of requests answered with a human-verification challenge rather than the content. A middle state between being served and being blocked.
Why it costs you money
Challenges bill like successes and deliver nothing, and solving them adds a per-request cost from a third-party service on top of the bandwidth. A network with a low ban rate and a high challenge rate can be more expensive to run than one that simply blocks you, because the failure is not obvious in the logs.
