IP whitelisting

An authentication method where the provider accepts traffic from addresses you register in advance and rejects everything else. The alternative to username and password credentials.

Why it costs you money

It decides whether the service works from where you actually run. Whitelisting breaks on a home address that changes, and on most serverless platforms, where the outbound address moves without warning, so a plan that authenticates only this way can be unusable for a setup that would otherwise be a good fit.
